It’s on past November, 6th 2008, with a flight of the airline company Condor, coming from Frankfort in Germany, that began the activity of the International airport of Samaná, situated in El Catey, province of Samaná.
Representing the Century XXI Dominicans’ Airports (AERODOM), company agent of state airports, Astrid Diaz Menicucci, General Manager, opened the inauguration with a speech, ensuring that the construction of this airport marks a new era for the tourism in Dominican Republic, especially for the Samaná province and the region
Diaz Menicucci informed that there are weekly international flights programs for the November-April season, coming from Europe cities like Milan, Paris, Madrid, Frankfort and Düsseldorf, as well as from Canadian cities like Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa and Vancouver.
It is the proof of what can happen when the cooperation and the support between privates and publics sectors is prevailing
she affirmed, while thanking the support and the confidence provided by the Civilian Aeronautical General Management, the Airport department, the Tourism Ministry, ASONAHORES and the hotels in general.
This new work delivered today by AERODOM to the country, demonstrates with acts the high level of the assumed agreements with the national development and our firm view to offer to Dominican Republic Word class airports

The airport Terminal built by AERODOM, has a cost superior to 80 million US dollars, and has been conceived with the most strict international security standards : and counts withs :
The Terminal edifice has been conceived with a tropical architecture and a wonderful Victorian style, characteristic of Samaná, covering 9000 squares meters on the first level and 1000 squares meters on the second one, with a moving capacity of entering and outgoing of more or less 600 passengers per hour.
During this inauguration, where present representatives of the government and of Samaná tourism sector, as well as political, economic, and social eminent people of the Province like José Alexis Martinez, Mayor of Las Terrenas, Miguel Bezi, Tourism Under-Secretary for the Northeaster zone, and the Condor representative.
