BREAKING NEWS: Hundreds of people enjoyed the gastronomy, the beaches, the monuments and the culture in its various expressions characteristic of Samaná, at the time of a course directed by the Secretary of State of the Culture, Jose Rafael Lantigua.

The first stop of this course was in Sánchez, commune of the province of Samaná, where after having received the welcome of the Ballet Esperanza, the group visited the church Notre Dame de Lourdes, to admire its Victorian architecture.

Then, the people visited the house of doña Trina de Moya, wif of the deceased former president of the Republic Horacio Vásquez.

They also visited the old Royal Bank, the Terminal of the train, the malls, the old post office and the Victorian house of Polibio.

Approximately 90 minutes later, Samaná emerged in front of the eyes of the group which went to the gloriette, place where the authorities of this city welcomed the visitors.

At this point of the visit, they could taste a gastronomical sample of the Afro American inhabitants of Samaná, little corn bread with coconut savor, johnnycakes and gingerbread, the whole with traditional drinks.

Then the group went to the Evangelic Dominican church of St Peter for then going to the municipal park where mixed with the inhabitants, the visitors danced the perico ripiao and the bamboulá, while professor Mártires Mercedes explained the choreography to them.

After, the group went up on board a small boat to join one of the prettiest places of the bay, the Cayo Levantado where a typical meal was served.

Back to Santa Bárbara, the Secretary of Culture inaugurated a fresco to the Elementary school Eliseo Demorizi, painted by the artist Geo Ripley, then all the travelers came back to Santo Domingo.

BREAKING NEWS: With the participation of important figures of Dominican cycling, on May 3 will take place the first bicycle race to Sánchez, event during which sport and entertainment will be combined.

One will find the elite, young, master and women’s categories and the race will include approximately 147 kilometers, whose course will cross by the Nordestana Highway, which is going to the province of Samaná.

BREAKING NEWS: A program of exchange of publicity for hotel and companies of Dominican Republic and the Caribbean for services for media companies of the United States, Canada, Europe and international airports around the world, was presented by the Information and Communication Center (CICOM) and the Canadian company, The Media Group.

The Media Group and the CICOM announced a strategic alliance with an offer of publicity going up to 75 million dollars in exchange (barter-trade) for trade based in the Caribbean services. This offer includes the principal medias (TV, Radio), the newspapers, the reviews, the online ads, mobile phones etc… and 40 million additional dollars in publicity of posting on 207 markets in the world.

Our facilities of publicity is targeting the hotels, the estate agencies, the restaurants, the sporting installations (golf), the marinas, the associations of hotels and of tourism and the governments of the countries where these installations are located, explained Cesar Sananes, CICOM high executive and person in charge of the project. Manuel Canales, of TMG said that the interested companies had access to the inventory of the communication medias and other facilities included in the program and could choose those which interested them for their publicity.

Our specialty, expressed Canales, is to offer an alternative to significant payments and this consists in exchanging hotel rooms for an adequate promotion adapted to the needs of the customer.

After having received the data of the market which the customer wishes to conquer, our company works out a media and marketing plan based on the demographic and economic provision of the place which will be invested by the interested company .

Sananes explained that this program of publicity exchange for services, allows the hotels to use part of their rooms’ inventory not reserved to make publicity on the markets which interest them and without spending too much money as with traditional publicity.

He said that the governments could take part in the agreements with the hotels to bring a part and to include in the programs a form of institutional publicity.

The hotels can also offer rooms to the government to pay a part of the programs of institutional publicity for a specific area.

For example, explained Sananes, the hotel of Puerto Plata or Samaná could bring 500 thousand dollars in rooms and the government the same amount in cash for a program of publicity in the United States and Canada for Puerto Plata and Samaná .

By taking into account the needs for the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean, Cicom wanted to be an avant-gardism company by supporting the development of tourism by making strategic alliances with a company devoted to market publicity by exchange of rooms, a tool which facilitates the investment in promotion, said Manuel Quiterio Cedeño, president of CICOM.

Cicom developed programs of communication for 25 years, while assisting in the crisis management the tourist, industrial and commercial companies of various sectors of the local and foreign economy.

The Media Group (TMG) marketing, promotion and businesses plans, is an agency established in Toronto, Canada, having 10 years of experience in publicity.
