BREAKING NEWS : Samaná.- Each year, several international cruise ships are arriving in the country with their board of visitors from around the world, including Europe and the United States.

The Province of Samaná is one of the favourite tourist attractions for visitors who are good customers of restaurants, craft shops etc…

According to Luis Penzo, president of the Association of Tourist Guides of Samaná (asoguitusa), with the start of the season for cruise ships that began last Monday, Tourism is celebrating.

He explained that despite the global crisis, the first day (Monday), about 1,500 tourists had arrived, for most Americans (95%), who visited attractions in the province.

He said that visitors came from Miami, and conducted a course in the Caribbean: Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Bahamas, and Haiti before coming to the Samana Peninsula, they were much appreciated.

Mr. Penzo announced that every Monday until the end of April 2010, over fifteen cruise ships arrive every month.

As a representative of some international travel agencies, he also said that the province was one of the favourite tourist hubs of travellers, and requested the authorities and the public to continue supporting this sector.
