Dominican Republic will promote tourism in Scandinavia

BREAKING NEWS : The Tourism Minister of Dominican Republic announced this Wednesday the opening of a Tourist Promotion Office (OPT) in Scandinavia, and flights from Stockholm starting on next winter.

With this new Office, that will act on the markets of Swede, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Island, the number of representations of the country in international market will elevate to 22.

The Office will be directed by Ivonne Cocco Jiménez, who announced a new flight per week from Stockholm to the Samaná Province, and two flights per week to Puerto Plata.

Senator announces the realization of Marine Festival

BREAKING NEWS : Senator for the Hato Mayor Province, Rubén Darío Cruz announced the realization of the Annual Marine Festival that will have as guest of honor the Monte Plata and Samaná provinces.

He informed that with this event, the organizing committee wanted to promote the Hato Mayor Province, as well as the Samaná and Monte Plata Provinces during three days of several activities.

During a meeting between the representing of the three provinces, the legislator gave information about the preparations of this aquatic festival.

This aquatic and sport event which main guest is the swimmer Marcos Díaz will take place in Sabana de la Mar with the presence of dozens of national and international swimmers who will cross the Bay that connects Hato Mayor and Samaná.

The Department of Public Health and the Agency for Cooperation of Japan announce the end of the draft Primary Care

BREAKING NEWS : The Department of Public Health and Social Welfare (SESPAS) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) announced Wednesday the end of the draft Primary Care for the health sector of Samaná (FAPRISAS) after five years.

Dr. Nelson Rodriguez Monegro, Deputy Director of Health Collective, said the program had reached its end by demonstrating the importance of strengthening and developing the primary attention in the national health system.

He argued that this new management model developed in the Dominican Republic will continue to strengthen as it allowed more than 70% of the health problems of the population are settled at a first level of treatment.

Rodriguez Monegro said that through this project, 16 units of rural primary care and equipped with trained personnel were operating in the province of Samaná, with services 24/24.

Project FAPRISAS is a success for the country since its results are felt and stimulate other communities to adopt the model of primary care, the benefit of all Dominicans.

The project involved an investment of about $ 8 million during the last 5 years, and has received the support of Japanese experts for staff training.
